Ruth L. Abbott, age 86, of New Hampton, died on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton.

Ruth was born December 11, 1923 to Perry and Sadie (Henson) Bolger in Greenfield, Iowa. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1942.

Ruth was united in marriage to Wayne Abbott on April 5, 1942 in Cameron, Missouri.

Ruth worked at the Greenfield Theater and darned ladies' silk stockings while Wayne was away in the U. S. Army.

After Wayne's discharge from the military they moved several times in the Midwest following Wayne's work as an engineer. In 1970 the couple moved to Frederick, Wisconsin where they lived for 20 years. In 1990 they moved to New Hampton after Wayne's retirement.

Ruth enjoyed sewing, reading, and watching basketball.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Ruby Patterson, Dorothy Mayes, and Pearle Hayes.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Funeral services will be 11:00am on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton with Pastor Todd Holman officiating.
