"James Porter (Jim) Stephenson was born Aug. 5, 1911, at Blair to Omer Perry and Myrtle May Lucas Stephenson and died Tuesday, May 21, 1985, at Watonga at age 73.
"As a boy he moved with his family to Dewey County west of Oakwood, where he attended country schools, Butte and Fairmont. He was later engaged in farming and ranching and moved to Watonga in 1957. He retired from active farming in 1974.
"He married Ethel Seifried at Taloga in 1936. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Watonga and Watonga Masonic Lodge, also serving as worthy patron of the Oakwood Eastern Star and worshipful master of the Oakwood Lodge and a was a member of the Shriners.
"He was preceeded in death by his parents and three brothers.
"Survivors include his wife, Ethel, Watonga; three sisters, Blanche King, Lawrence, Kan., and Orah Morris and Opal Fontain, San Bruno, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
"Funeral services for Stephenson were held Friday, May 24, at the First United Methodist Church in Watonga with the Rev. Richard McIlnay officiating. Services were concluded in the IOOF Cemetery, Watonga, under the direction of Wilkinson Mortuary of Watonga."
