SIOUX CITY -- Thomas B. "Tommy" Palmer, 95, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at a Sioux City care center after a long illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marj Kamrath officiating. Burial with military flag presentation and taps will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Tommy was born June 22, 1914, in Sioux City, the son of Fredrick and Myrtel (DeHarty) Palmer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific. While serving in the Army, he received a Bronze Star and a Bronze Arrowhead Medal.
He married Lorraine C. Senseney on Dec. 20, 1947, in Sioux City. He worked as a route carrier for Robert's Dairy for 30 years.
He was a member of New Creation Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of Sioux City; two sons, Jerry and his wife, Rae Ann Palmer of Sioux City and Fred Palmer of Palmetto, Fla.; two daughters and their husbands, Julie and William Danderand of Naperville, Ill., and Stacy and Dave Peel of Davenport, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two nieces, Lavone Ferguson of Dakota Dunes and Marvel Edwards of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Chester; and a sister, Gertrude.
