Richard John Allen, sailor, sailing out of Devonport. He was described as a Boy Second Class, though it is difficult to see how such a description of a boy may arise. He died of illness, aged fifteen, post-war, and it seems, at least that his body was returned to his parents. The death of such a young person in military service must serve as another pointer to the futility of war. Richard served on H.M.S. Impregnable. His service number was J/94070. Long may we remember him. Photo of grave to follow shortly.
