On 3/15/1862 he mustered into "B" Co. IL 65th Infantry
He Re-enlisted on 4/7/1864
He was Mustered Out on 7/13/1865 at Greensboro, NC

George S. Cathcart was the son of James Calvin Cathcart and his second wife Mary
(Pierce) Cathcart. George traveled with his parents from Pennsylvania to start
a new home in Rock Island County, Illinois, where his parents died during a
cholera outbreak. He married Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Faulkner 4 Jul 1875 in Rock Island Co, Illinois. They moved
to Cloud Co, Kansas, where two of their sons were born (Alfred Arthur and James
Clark); then on to Benedict, York Co, Nebraska where they had three more
children: daughter Elizabeth Belle, son Benjamin Harrison, and son Forest
Eugene. Elizabeth (Faulkner) Cathcart died 28 Jan 1896 in Benedict, York Co,
Nebraska. George later moved to the state of Washington.
