James Luther Shelby, 85, of Star City, a retired farmer, died Tuesday. He was a Missionary Baptist. Survivors are his wife, Lennie Powers Shelby; two sons, Billy Joe Shelby of Greenville, Tenn., and Clarence Shelby of Alvin, Texas; two daughters, Catherine Mayers of Star City and Betty Tooke of Rye (Cleveland County); three sisters, Lillie Ross, Vivian Ballard, and Velma Shelby of Malvern; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bethel 2 Missionary Baptist Church near Rison. Burial will be in Prosperity Cemetery in Cleveland County by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
