Fredrick was the oldest son and the farm in Norway should of passed on to him. But Fredrick went to America in 1866. His brother, Engebret, got the farm in 1869. Fredrick’s sister, Anne, left Nord-Fron for America 16 May 1870. Fredrick and Anne both settled near Rothsay, Minnesota. Fredrick’s farm was the northeast quarter of the southeast quarter of section 1, Akron Township, Wilkin County, about a mile south of Rothsay. However, a 1894 plat map shows Fredrick owning 107.88 acres in Oscar Township, which is across the road from the land in Akron Township.
Fredrick married Mari Amundsdatter/Amundson 3 Oct 1881. Their marriage license is filed in Otter Tail County. They had three children: Anton Fredrik (b. 30 Mar 1884), Carl (b. 7 Mar 1886), and Emma (b. 3 Dec 1887). Fredrick died from a stroke 17 Nov 1888. He was buried in the Hamar Cemetery, about a half mile from his farm. His son Anton later took over the farm in Akron Township.
