Resident of Murrayfield (now Chester), Massachusetts. Joined Col. John Mosley's 3rd Hampshire County (Massachusetts) Regiment on April 21, 1776 (Revolutionary War), serving as a lieutenant. Chosen to belong to the Committee of Inspection and Safety (responsible for furnishing men and supplies) at Murrayfield in March 1778.
After the war he lived in Montgomery County, New York, later moving to Onondoga County.
