Mr. Cameron died Nov. 30, 2005 at his residence in Purcell.
He was born March 13, 1943 in Lindsay, the middle child of three sons of W.C. Cameron and Alene Mayfield. He was reared in Lindsay, graduating from Lindsay High School in 1961.
After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country in Vietnam. He was involved in military intelligence and served two tours of duty in Vietnam before being honorably discharged after 13 years of service. He received two Bronze Stars and an Army Commendation Medal.
After discharge from the Army, Mr. Cameron lived in Odessa, Texas, where he worked for NALCO Chemical Company for 15 years. He moved back to Oklahoma and over the next several years he worked for various trucking companies as an over-the-road truck driver, driving 18 wheelers from coast to coast. He retired in 2000 due to poor health.
He was preceded in death by his father, W.C. Cameron, and his stepfather, Clarence Wade.
Survivors include his mother, Alene Wade of Purcell; one daughter, Tamera Cameron of Tulsa; two brothers, Bill Cameron and his wife, Sandra, of Purcell and Jerry Cameron of Albuquerque, N.M., and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Michael Webb, Claud Cameron, Gene Cameron, Lewis Bookout, Jerry Conyer and Bran Vaught.
Honorary pallbearers were Duane Cowdin, B.B. Staggs, Paul McCurtain, John Wade, Thurman Smith and Roy Rogers.
