Son of Samuel and Henriette S. Scott Chew. Husband of (1) Martha Gibson, and (2) Agnes Marshall Chew. Both father and son were on the faculty of the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He had lived for many years on Lanvale St., but had resided at 3 Midvale Rd. in Roland Park at the time of his death.
He was survived by his wife, Agnes, and two sons, Henry D. Chew, and Samuel Claggett Chew, Jr. Another son, John Marshall Chew preceded him in death by drowning in 1904. His funeral was held at Mount Calvary Episcopal Church.
