Paul Alfred Wirkler
Paul Alfred Wirkler, 52, of Garnavillo died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wis., following a sudden illness.
Visitation was Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007 at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo. Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at the Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home in Garnavillo. Interment was at the Garnavillo Community Cemetery. Casket bearers were Daniel Wirkler, Ryan Wirkler, David Wirkler, Robert Wirkler, John Wirkler and Don Wirkler.
Paul Alfred Wirkler was born Oct. 8, 1954, in Guttenberg. He was the son of Vern and Jeanne (Kregel) Wirkler.
He graduated from Garnavillo High School in 1972, and from Area One Vocational School, Calmar. He farmed with his family for many years and at the time of his death was attending the Institute of Energy and Wellness Integrative Aromatic Sciences. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
On Dec. 23, 1980, he was united in marriage with Claudia Underhill in East Aurora, N.Y.
Paul was saved on June 5, 1966. His brother Richard was saved just three days before on June 2. Mr. Loren McBain and Murray MacLeod were having Gospel meetings during that time. Helen Grothouse had left a tract in his bedroom the night before. It was while reading this tract that he saw the truth of God's salvation.
Survivors include his wife, Claudia; his mother, Jeanne Wirkler of Garnavillo; one daughter, Shelly Wirkler of Garnavillo; one son, Steven Wirkler of Garnavillo; five brothers, David Wirkler of Elkader, Robert (Nancy) Wirkler of Waukon, John (Sherry) Wirkler of Prairie du Chien, Wis., Joe (Beverly) Wirkler and Don (Cheryl) Wirkler of Garnavillo, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vern, and brother, Richard.
He married Claudia Mae Underhill 23 Dec 1980 in East Aurora, Erie, New York.
