"Leland V. Adgate, 74, of Lyons died Dec. 26, 1995.
He was born May 31, 1921 in Orange Twp., the son of Elmer and Jesse (Megarah) Adgate.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a fighter pilot off the Air Craft Carrier Independence, with the U. S. Navy Air Corps.
He was an active area farmer and Portland Township supervisor since 1976.
He is survived by his wife Joanne; six children, Thane Barden, of Jenison, Andrea Ferris, of Portland, Kristen (John) Stewart, of Lyons, Lynne (Thomas) Harsha, of Lansing; Laurie (Michael) VanderPloeg, of Stevensville, and Darin
(Tricia) Adgate, of Pinckney; 11 grandchildren; brother Wayne (Mary Lou) Adgate, of Grand Ledge; sisters: Eleanor (Kenneth) Day, of Portland, Margaret (Harold) Whipple, of Grand Blanc, and Phyllis (Michael) Jones, of Grand Haven;
and sister-in-law Sally (Neal) Adgate, of Muir.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Lawrence and Neal Adgate; sister Lois Adgate; and granddaughter Kara Marie Stewart.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, 1995 at the Portland United Methodist Church, 310 E. Bridge St., with Pastor Elaine M. Buker officiating. "
