Mr. John E. Sobotka of South Plainfield, N.J., formerly of Vincentown and Bloomfield, N.J., passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2010. He was 90.

John was the beloved husband of the late Vladislava "Viola" (Jutrzenka).

He was the loving father of Peter Sobotka (Barbara), John Sobotka (Jayne) and Paula Kowalski (Peter).

He was the brother of the late Helen Sobotka, Charles Sabotka and Sophie Heavey.

John was the grandfather of Amy, Peter, Kevin, Jessica, Jacquelyn, and John Sobotka, Jennifer Kelly, Ryan Bunting and Carolyn Kowalski.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, with Americal 23rd Division (South Pacific).

He was an assembler with American Can Corp. in Hillside.

He was a member of the Joseph Poniatowski Benevolent Association.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Levandoski Funeral Home, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield. The funeral will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. in Saint Valentine Church, Bloomfield. Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
