HORACE SKINNER OF TAYLOR WHO DIED TUESDAY
Horace Skinner, one of the oldest residents of Taylor, died Tuesday morning, May 8, after an illness of about six weeks with kidney trouble. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock, burial in Taylor.
Horace Skinner was born September 1, 1824, his parents being George and Betsey [Stebbins] Skinner. He was one of a family of seven children, and has a brother Nelson Skinner of Taylor. His father lived in the town of Virgil and Horace remained with him in his younger days.
He was married to Jane Booth of Virgil in January 1851 and they had six children, two of which are living: Frank Skinner, who resides on the old homestead in Taylor and Orissa, now Mrs. Jerry Cooper of East Buffalo.
His wife died April 6, 1897 and on June 15, 1899, he was again married to Miss Elizabeth [Roby] Barrett.
He came to Taylor in 1857 and at one time he owned 280 acres of land. He moved to Taylor village in 1883 and resided there until his death.
