Dorothy Ellen Prochaska, daughter of William Anton and Magdalena Boucek Srna, was born Aug. 13, 1914, north of Ada, Ks., and departed this life Jan. 21, 1994, at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 8 days.
Her childhood was spent on the farm north of Ada. Dorothy received her education at Ada Grade and High School with the exception of the junior year at Delphos High School. Following high school, Dorothy receivedNormal Training at Abline, Ks. She then taught school at Pleasant View #93 in Mitchell County for two years and at Sunnyside in Cloud county for two years.
She was united in marriage on May 14, 1936, to Henry Prochaska at Goodland, Ks. To this union, seven children were born. Their early years of marriage were spent on a farm northwest of Ada and later in 1940, thev moved to their present home southwest of Glasco. They were privileged to observe their 57th anniversary together. Dorothy was a member of the Simpson Methodist Church and a 50 year member of the Z,C.B.J. Lodge.
While her health allowed, Dorothy took pleasure in spending long hours helping Henry with their farmer-stockman operation. Through the years, she enjoyed following the activities of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was always very supportive. Some of the happiest times of her life included attending sports events and watching her family compete.
In later years, as her health began to fail, she enjoyed directing traffic from her chair in the living room. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, always putting others' welfare above her own. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
By her passing, besides her husband, she leaves seven children: Henrietta and husband J. D. Brunnemer, Plain-ville, Ks.; Ivan and wife Gloria, Weaverville, Calif,; Avis and husband Marvin Henning, Jamestown, Ks.; Don and wife Kathy, Glen Elder, Ks.; Dale and wife Nora, Beloit, Ks.; Gwen Boudreaux, Beloit, Ks.; and Kent, Concordia, Ks. Dorothy also leaves 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Her parents and brother Willard Srna, preceded her in death.
Music was provided by Mrs. Carolyn Finney, vocalist, and Miss Juliane Pruitt, organist.
Casket bearers were Tim Boudreaux, Tom Boudreaux, Jay Brunnemer, Adam Mosher, Justin Prochaska, Tony Prochaska. Honorary bearers were Jill Brunnemer, Mikel Henning, Chris Mosher and Gary Mosher.
Interment was in the Bohemian National Cemetery, Glasco, Ks.
Memorial contributions were given to the organization of the donor's choice. Funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of the Dean Funeral Home of Glasco.
We shall meet, but we shall miss her.
