Lawrence F. Altaffer, Jr., 85, of Warsaw, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2010. He was the widower of Virginia S. Altaffer, a member of Warsaw Baptist Church, and a retired manager for Pet Dairy. Mr. Altaffer graduated from Warsaw High School and entered the Navy V12 Program, attending VMI, UVA, and graduating from University of South Carolina. After graduation from USC, he joined the U.S. Marines and served as a First Lieutenant in World II and the Korea Conflict.

Survivors are his son, Dr. Lawrence F. Altaffer, III of Syria, Va.; his daughter, Elizabeth A. "Betty" Lumpkin and her husband Billy, of Richmond; four grandchildren, Virginia Anne Lumpkin, Anne Altaffer Asplin (Brian), Elizabeth Altaffer Fedowitz (John), and Lawrence F. Altaffer, IV; and 2 great grandsons, Max and Henry Fedowitz.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Warsaw Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home after the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Warsaw Baptist Church.
