Mair was my beloved mother or "Mam" and had a hard childhood when she lost her mother at the early age of twelve followed by her father's long illness. She married my father Glan Gower on Boxing Day 1941 and had five children in all although little Meriel died in infancy in 1944. She was a very selfless mother, generous and giving who looked after us well. Loved animals and to sit quietly in the corner of the living room each evening watching a little tv and browing the papers after a long busy day taking care of her family. She worked tirelessly while husband Glan fought cancer from which he died in February 1993 and Mam followed just over 12 months later. I was living in London at the time and it is to my regret that I did not do more to help her or Dad in their final years. Dearly loved and sorely missed.
