He was a corporal in Capt. Joseph Carter's company, Ct., in '76. The Boardman Genealogy says: "Mr. Hopkins is said to have been a lawyer, and to have served as an officer in the Revolutionary army." The name appeared only in Freehold, N. Y., in 1790. His daughter, Rachel, married Timothy Boardman of Otisco.
