James Laffey, son of James and Mary Kean Laffey of Galway, Ireland, died of cerebral hemorrhage at 84 years, 10 months, 1 day of age. Informant was his son Michael William Laffey.
Family tradition claims that James was the half-brother of Patric Laffey who is also buried in St. Peter's Cemetery. James was referred to as "Big Jim," and Patric's son was called "Little Jim."

Per the 1910 US Census for Swanton District, Garrett County, Maryland, twelve children were born to James and Bridget Keady/Kady/Keedy Laffey, his wife. In 1910 eleven of the twelve children were living.
