Mr. Joseph E. "Joe" Burroughs, 71, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday at 11 am in Pinewood Memorial Park. Mr. Burroughs was a native of Pitt County, and life long resident of Greenville. He had been the owner and operator of Burroughs Heating and Air Conditioning Service since 1961. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who loved helping poeple and accommodating their needs, and enjoyed eating peanuts. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Buck Burroughs; sones, Lindsey E. "Lyn" Burroughs, of Greenville, Joey Ray Burroughs and wife, Dee, of Winterville, and Marty Lynn Burroughs and wife, Lorie, of Greenville; grandchildren, Jason, Trey, Lynn, Nick, Sarah, Kristen, and Ethan; and sister Essie Ruth Mills, of Greenville. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Wilkerson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Raleigh Office, 11 S. Boylan, Suite 221, Raleigh, NC 27603.
