Memorial for Audrey Faye Matney Olson, 94, of Santa Ana, Calif., will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 10, at Hawkins Funeral Home with Jerry and Ben Matney officiating. Burial was private in Jonestown Cemetery.
Olson died Thursday, May 27, 2010, in Santa Ana.
Born Jan. 1, 1916, to Joe Birt and Cora (Brown) Minor in Bridgeport, she married Clyde Matney Aug. 5, 1931, in Altus, Okla. Despite being hampered by vision problems as a child, she achieved her lifelong dream of becoming a licensed vocational nurse. Olson worked for hospitals in Bridgeport, Decatur, Dallas, Houston and Santa Ana before she retired.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Jim Matney; one brother; and three sisters.
She is survived by sons, Jerry Matney and wife, Nedra, of Surprise, Ariz., Ben Matney and wife, Lanelle, of Sunrise Beach, and Sam "Bub" Matney of Lake Bridgeport; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Willow Bea Scoggins of Weatherford; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives.
