He was born near Ninevah, October 31, 1859, son of the late Elias and Maria Conkey Gardner. He was the husband of Nancy Wright, who preceded him in death fifteen years ago.
Mr. Gardner had been in the lumber business for 56 years. He was a member of the Cameron Methodist Church. The last four years of his life he spent with his daughter, Mrs. Taylor. Mr. Gardner was the last member of his family.
Surviving him are two sons, John Gardner, of Waynesburg, and Elgy Gardner, of Steubenville, O.; two daughters, Mrs. Marion (Myrtle) Ealy, of Mt. Victory, O., and Mrs. Harles (Dulcie) Taylor, of Waynesburg, and 12 grandchildren.
