Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Gall's Catholic Church in Tintah for Fred F. Aldrich, 71, a resident of Nashua more that 50 years who died unexpectedly on Fridy evening of a heart attack while at home with his seven-year-old granddaughter.
Mr. Aldrich had gone down into the basement to shake the furnace, accompanied by Renee Jawers, his granddaughter, Mrs. Aldrich was at St. Gall's church at the time attending a service of devotions. He had been in failing health for sometime.
The Rev. Fr. William Wey will officiate at the rites and burial will be in St. Gall's Cemetery there. Jos. Vertin and Sons Funeral Home of Breckenridge is in charge.
Frederick Francis Aldrich was born in October 1885 in Star Lake township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Aldrich. In 1902 he moved with his parents to a farm three miles north of Nashua. He continued to live on the home farm until 1911 when he entered the employ of the Farmers Elevator, a position he held until 1915 when he became manager of the Nash Lumber Yards. He was manager there until 1934, and in 1935 Mr. Aldrich bought out the Egeland Grocery, which he owned and operated until he retired about four years ago.
Mr. Aldrich was a stauch member of St. Gall's Catholic church in Tintah, a member of the choir for over fifty years, a trustee about forty years. He sserved on the Nashua school board for 30 years, and held the job of assessor for 48 years. He was an ardent sportsmen in his younger years, he loved the outdoors and gardening was his hobby. He was a man who worked unceasingly for the betterment of his community and was ever willing to hlep others as long as he was able to do so.
Fred Aldrich was married on Sept. 23, 1918 to Miss Florence Egen of Elbow Lake, who survives him. He is also survived by one son, Fred Aldrich Jr., of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Garland (Katherine) Raper of Jackson, Mich.; and Dorothy Aldrich of Midland, Texas; by eight grandchildren; by his father, J.E. Aldrich, who made his home with them; four brothers and three sisters, George of Perham; Mrs. Frank (Gertrude) Downey, Rush Lake; Mrs. Ray (Loy) Downey, Campbell; Joe of Nashua; Mrs. Fred (Sue) Eyestone, Nashua; Ed and James also of Nashua; by 22 nephews and nieces and 35 great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, two sisters, Margaret, who died in infancy and Mrs. Bea Hosford (Mary), and one brother Leo.
