Jonathan Williams was born Feb. 20 1743/1744 in East Haddam, CT. He was the son of Robinson/Robertson Williams and Elizabeth Hurd. He is a Mayflower descendant through his mother Elizaeth Hurd. She was a descendant of pilgrim, Thomas Rogers. On March 29, 1764, Jonathan married Abigail Burr of East Haddam, daughter of Jonathan Burr and Elizabeth Belden. They came to Stephentown, Rensselaer Co, NY, settling in Van Rensselaer Manor, leasing land from Stephen Van Rensselaer. That part of Stephentown later became part of Nassau township. I believe they had seven children. Jonathan died on June 6, 1832 and is buried in the North Nassau Cemetery.
