JAMES ALDRICH FAMILY

James Aldrich was born in Missouri May 9, 1862. He came with his parents in a covered wagon to southern Minnesota (Blue Earth Co.) where they resided until 1868* when they journeyed to Star Lake, Otter Tail County where they cleared the land and built a log cabin. It was here that he met and married Catherine Vogal. They were married in St.Joe's Catholic Church at Star Lake.
They moved to the Nashua area around 1900 and farmed 3 miles north of town. Mr. Aldrich was active in community affairs such as town board and school board. The Aldrichs were members of St. Gall's Catholic Church at Tintah. Mrs. Aldrich passed away Feb. 17, 1949.
Mr. Aldrich made his home with his son, Joe, and daughter, Catherine and for 3 years before his death with his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Florence Aldrich. His eye sight was failing. He passed away in 1961 at the age of 97 years.
At that time he was survived by the following chldren: George of Perham; Mrs. Frank Downey, Rush Lake; Mrs. Catherine Downey, Breckenridge; Mrs. Fred Eyestone, Ed, Joe and James, all of Nashua. There were also 23 grandchildren and about 50 great-grandchildren. A son, Fred, also of Nashua, preceded him in death.

1880 census has the Aldrich family at Star Lake, Otter Tail, Minnesota.
