Willie Augustus, a retired head chef for the Camelot Club with 23 years of service and a resident of Baton Rouge, died Friday, March 11, 2005. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Religious service at New Sunlight Baptist Church Friday, March 18, conducted by the Rev. Dale W. Flowers. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery.

He is survived by a daughter, Debra A. Jones; son-in-law, David L. Jones; five sisters, Mary A. Banks, Annie Gillie and Idell Wadsworth, all of Baton Rouge, Martha Hunt of St. Louis, and Alice V. Hendricks of Cleveland; three grandchildren, Erica J. Rader, Brian C. Jones and Ricco D. Jones; two great-grandchildren, Little Ricco and Reiona; a grandson-in-law, Shane M. Rader; two godchildren; a devoted niece and nephew, Patricia Battiste and Gary Augustus; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mary Valentine Augustus; wife, Mildred Mosby Augustus; two brothers, Charlie A. Jr. and Leon Augustus; and two sisters, Irene Augustus and Dorothy Lunkin.

He was affliliated with the Grand United Order of Odd Fellows-Knox Enterprise 9499, Hattie's Household of Ruth 6865, American Legion Post 505 and Scottish Rite Masons of which he was an 18th Degree member of Tobias 75 and also a recording secretary.

Special thanks to Dr. David Hanson and the oncology staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Feliciana Home Health and Hospice of Baton Rouge.
