Opal C. Brown, 71, of Route 4, Mason City, died Sunday July 30, 1995 at Muse Norris Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Nils C. "Chris" Hellevik officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials may be given to a church or charity of your choice in memory of Opal Brown.

Opal C. Brown was born Feb. 9, 1924, on a farm near Joice, the daughter of Carl Reinsmoen and Olina (nee) Calgaard Reinsmoen. She was educated in the Joice area and after graduation moved to Mason City in 1943 to begin her career as a bookkeeper and office manager with the S.S. Kresge Company.

She married John W. Anderson in 1948. In 1959 she went back to work for S.S. Kresge full time on a temporary basis. Mr. Anderson died in 1964. She continued working at S.S. Kresge. When the store closed, she transferred to K-Mart. Opal retired in 1984 after 30 years of service.

Opal married Jack Brown in 1970 and moved to his farm north of Mason City. Opal was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church,former ladies aid president, member of the Lydia circle, active in Church Women United and the Christian Women Group. She also volunteered at the Good Shepherd Health Center and KCMR.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Brown of Mason City; a son, Jerry Anderson and wife, Cathee Anderson of Mason City; grandchildren, Shannon and Wade Anderson; step-sons, Steve Brown of Mason City; Mike Brown and wife, Ann Brown of Mason City, and David Brown and wife, Cynthia Brown of Mason City; step-grandchildren, Abby, Lucy, Maggie, Jefferson and Matthew; one sister, Clarice Felland of Lake Mills; one brother, George Reinsmoen of Mason City; many nieces and nephews, and cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Anderson; parents; and one brother, Orville Reinsmoen.
