The remains of Anthony Andrys, Port Hope township World War II veteran, who was killed in action on Luzon were to arrive in Bemidji, Wednesday. The body is to be reinterred Thursday afternoon following services at the First Presbyterian church with interment in Greenwood cemetery. The Bemidji American Legion will conduct graveside exercises. The McKee Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Anthony was born June 16, 1923 at Chisholm and at the time of his induction lived at Turtle River. He attended Tenstrike school, BSTC Laboratory school and Bemidji high school.

He saw service at New Zealand, Guadalcanal, New Guinea and New Caledonia. On January 17, 1945 he was killed on Luzon.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Andrys, three brothers, Joseph, Bemidji; Frank of Duluth and August of St. James, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Carter of Bemidji and Mrs. Paul Osborne, National City, California. (The Northland Times, August 27, 1948)
