Benjamin Bushnell, Blandinsville Star Gazette
Benjamin Bushnell was born July 7, 1823 and died near Macomb at 7'oclock on the morning of Saturday July 21, 1917, aged 94 years and 14 days. …The deceased was the seventeenth and youngest child of Daniel and Eunice Brockway Bushnell. The father, Daniel Bushnell was born in Connecticut in 1763 and moved to Ohio in 1804 where he died in 1818. …
The deceased came to Illinois in 1854 and for six years made his home at Roseville Ill. He then came to Blandinsville which has been his home during the last 55 years or more. In his young manhood he was a cooper by trade and later a farmer and fruit grower till old age incapacitated him for active life, since when he has been cared for by his daughter Mrs Lemira Grigsby and assisted by her sister Luella Prather when her family cares would permit….
He came of a religious family and was an upright, honest man and a conscientious and consistent member of the church who attended services til he was more than ninety years old.
It was his desire that his body should be laid to rest beside those of his beloved mother and three-year old son, George Wellington who sleep in the Roseville Cemetery, and on Sunday July 22, the body was taken there for burial. Short services were held at the grave, the Christian minister of the Roseville church officiating, and the tired body was laid beside his loved ones to rest.
