Phillip married Lear Frances "Kitty" Formby on 27 Jul 1851. They had 5 know children: Eliza, Mary, Ruth, Sarah, and Phillip. Phillip joined the 35th Georgia Infantry Co F on 3 May 1862. On the 13 Dec 1862 Phillip was wounded in action. Then on 23 May 1864 Phillip was killed in action at the battle of Jericho Ford, VA
