Howard Lang was born April 16, 1854 in Harrison County, Indiana. He was the son of Isaac and Amy (Lamon) Lang. He had six brothers and one sister. His father died during the retreat of The Battle of Corydon, during The American Civil War. He married Minerva Dobson in Corydon, Indiana on Sept. 11, 1873. In 1874, they moved to a homestead one mile southeast of Litchfield, Nebraska. They had seven children. Howard served as County Supervisor from 1887-1890 and 1914. He was a member of the Nebraska State Legislature in 1919. He held patents on several items including an upgraded buggy wheel. Howard loved to play practical jokes on friends and family. His mother married Moses Crawford and they moved from Indiana to Grand Island, Nebraska. Moses Crawford was a minister.
