According to cemetery records, Emma is in a plot with 4 other people. As of 2009, the grave stone above is for one of her daughters and her husband :
Kathryn Louise (Purple) Perry (cremated)
Frank Jenness Perry, Jr (cremated)
The other two therein are :
her husband (Harry Jasper Purple, Sr - coffin)
her daughter (Helen France Purple - coffin)
Emma (my grandmother) died while at the Buswell Nursing Home, Buswell Park, Newton MA, just a few blocks from her son (Harry Jasper Purple, Jr) who lived at 626 Centre St.
In high school I used to date a girl who lived on Buswell Park.
In terms of the plot it appears that since the plot is "owned" by Emma Louise Purple, it was purchased when her husband died and was then used to bury other family members.
The issue of the stone came up when Kathryn passed away - note that Harry Jr passed away only about 2 weeks after Kathryn - and permission was given by my mother for the stone to be put in with Kathryn's name on it.
Plans are to have markers put in for the other 3 people buried here.
Thanks to Find A Grave member Anita M. (Fontaine) Keller (#46989264) - a distant relative but a relative none the less - for Emma's death notice :
The Boston Herald - July 30, 1963
PURPLE - In Newton, July 28, 1963, Emma Louise (Lamkin), Residence 626 Centre St.
Wife of the late Harry J. Purple,
Mother of George F., Kathryn L. Perry and Harry J. Purple.
Memorial service in the Ellison Chapel Eliot Church of Newton, Wednesday, July 31 at 2 p.m.
Please do not send flowers.
