A young Marietta boy was killed Thursday night in a head-on collision on Old Sewell Road about a half mile north of Lower Roswell Road, Cobb County Police report. He was identified as Lewis D. Givens, 18, son of A. J. Givens, Route 6, Marietta. Police said the crash occurred at the crest of a hill. Givens was thrown about 120 feet from the car. Police Sgt. Cecil Holt said. His 1940 Chevrolet was demolished. Interment will be in Noonday Baptist Church Cemetery. A native of Fulton County, Givens moved to Cobb County in 1940. He had been a member of Noonday Baptist Church for several years. He was a student at the University of Georgia Extension in Marietta. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Givens, Marietta; three sisters, Mrs. R. E. Chapman, Mrs. Henry G. Bray, Miss Annette Givens, all of Marietta; three brothers, Mayes, Billy, and Donald Givens, all of Marietta; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Smallwood, Marietta and paternal grandmother, Mrs. Edna Givens, Marietta. Police identified the other driver as George Russell, 28, of Route 2, Marietta. Russell suffered minor cuts and bruises. Passengers who received slight injuries were Clifford Trout, 16, 245 Waldrop Circle, Wayne Croft, 408 Oak Street and Roy Benson. Benson was the only one hospitalized. Kennestone authorities today reported his condition as "good".
