Virginia Adams grew up in Red Oak, Virginia with the rest of her brothers and sisters in a large family.

As an adult she attended nursing school at the University of Pennsylvania, where she received her Registered Nurse degree in 1936.

She married Berger Egenes in 1942 and raised her own family of two children in Westfield, New Jersey.

A long-time member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Westfield, she also found time to volunteer and serve the community through her work with Hospice, the Red Cross and the Girl Scouts.

Virginia was a lover of sports and a true competitor. She excelled at golf in particular, winning many tournaments at the Echo Lake Country Club,where she was a much sought after partner.

She also was an avid bowler and skillful bridge player. Virginia always impressed people with her love of the game and her display of true sportsmanship.

She also loved dancing and family get togethers.
