Harvey, was the son of George Robert and Rhoda Ella Decius Allison of Lacamas Prarie, Lewis Co., WA. He grew up on the family farm, attended school in Toledo, WA where he played football and baseball for Toledo High and graduated in 1930. He and Ina Slaten grew up on neighboring farms and attended high school together. After Ina graduated from Business School they were married and moved to Aberdeen, WA where he was in business with his brothers.

In 1945 the Harvey moved back to the family farm and opened the Toledo Tavern. In 1947, Harvey and his brother George, who had just returned from the Army, both felt that there were better opportunities for business than those that presented themselves in the Lacamas Prairie area, and after scouting the eastern part of the state for opportunities, they opened "Allison Lumber Yard" in Moses Lake, WA. George moved to Moses Lake to run the Lumber Yard and Harvey stayed on Lacamas where he purchased the lumber from sawmills in western Washington and trucked it to Moses Lake and continued the Tavern business.

In 1950, Larson Air Force Base was being built and their Lumber business had become very successful, so Harvey sold his part in the Toledo Tavern to his partner & Harvey and Ina moved their family of 3 daughters to Moses Lake. Harvey remained the lumber buyer and as a result of the success of the lumberyard, added more trucks and drivers to supply the inventory for the lumberyard. This resulted in the creation of another business, Chief Truck Lines, which trucked hay, iron and concrete from eastern WA to the western part of the state and lumber back to Moses Lake. They opened a second lumberyard in Soap Lake WA in 1957. The "Allison brothers" continued to operate Allison Lumber in Moses Lake until 1959, when it was destroyed by fire. After the fire, the decision was made not to rebuild the lumberyard in Moses Lake.
Harvey continued to run Chief Truck lines until he retired and sold it in 1968.

Harvey and Ina were the parents of 3 daughters, Ella Jane (Lee) McCarley, Glenda Ina (Bill) Anderson and Nancy Lee (Harley) Brotherton. He was the proud "Papa" of Grandchildren: Irene Siegel, Karen Siegel, Allan Siegel, Eric Anderson, Allison Brotherton & Harley Brotherton.
He is missed by all of us.
