The couple came to the United States in 1831. In 1840 the family lived in Upper Windsor, York County, Pennsylvania. By August 1850 they lived in Lower St. Claire, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania with their eight living children- George, Mary, Louisa, Ernest, Susan, Jacob, Catherine, and Philip. The couple moved to Ohio by April 1853. In 1860 they lived in Sutton township, Meigs County, Ohio, where George worked as a farmer.
In 1870 they lived in Salisbury township, Meigs County, probably supported by their son George. They were caring for their orphaned grandchildren John and Catherine Frasch. They lived by themselves when the 1880 census was taken. George died in 1883: "Death of an old citizen: Mr. George L. Feiger, an old and respected German citizen of this county- the father of Mr. E. F. Feiger, of this city, died last Thursday evening, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Bergshecker, in the Nease Settlement, at the advanced age of 84 years. The deceased was born in Hanover, Germany, and emigrated to this country in 1831, settling in PA. He afterward moved to Meigs County, where he resided over 30 years. He raised a family of 11 children, 6 of whom are still living. The wife of the deceased died about 3 months ago. His funeral was held Saturday afternoon" (Meigs County Telegraph, 2 May 1883).
