Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, at the Paullin Funeral Home, East Jordan. The Rev. Merlin K. Delo will officiate with a committal service following under the auspices of Charlevoix Masonic Lodge No. 282, F. & A. M. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, East Jordan.
Mr. Bennett was born Dec. 31, 1892, in East Jordan, the son of James and Martha (Smith) Bennett. He grew up in East Jordan and served in the U. S. Army during World War I.
On April 3, 1952, he married the former Mary Ida Erfurth in Charlevoix. She died May 26, 1969.
Mr. Bennett was a member of the East Jordan Masonic Lodge No. 379, F. & A. M. He was a bait dealer who enjoyed fishing, wood carving and playing the harmonica.
Surviving family members include: Mary Persons of Grand Rapids, Marion Stiles of Berrien Springs, Eva Behnke of Niles, Calvin Bennett of Sodus and many adopted family members and friends.
The family suggests memorials to the Charlevoix County Senior Center, East Jordan. Envelopes for memorials are available at the Paullin Funeral Home where friends may call until 9 p.m. today.
