Jessie Jewell Maxwell, 74, of Welcome Grove Road Mosheim, died Saturday at her home. Mrs. Maxwell retired from the College of Nursing at Walters State Community College. She was a registered nurse instructor. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir and taught in the nursery for several years. Survivors include her husband: Silas Maxwell; a son and daughter-in-law: Scott and Cheryl Maxwell of Mosheim; a daughter and son-in-law: Jewell Annette and Michael Briggs of Knoxville; two grandchildren: Jessie Briggs of Nashville and Aaron Briggs of Knoxville; one sister: Mildred Blair of Georgia; two brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law: Nelson and Shirley Maxwell of Portland, Ore., Alton and Debbie Maxwell of Nashville; Pearl Huffman of Mosheim, Flossie Maxwell of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Jessie and Trula Weigel and was preceded in by two brothers: Hubert and Hershel Weigel; and two sisters: Mary Elizabeth Ogle and Margaret Cline. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow visitation at 8 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Joey Tilley will officiate. A committal service will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends will meet at 9:45 at the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, East Tennessee Chapter, 2270 Sutherland Ave., Suite 202, Knoxville, TN 37919, or to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 211 N.
