Jessie Jewell Maxwell, 74, of Welcome Grove Road Mosheim, died Saturday at her home. Mrs. Maxwell retired from the College of Nursing at Walters State Community College. She was a registered nurse instructor. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir and taught in the nursery for several years. Survivors include her husband: Silas Maxwell; a son and daughter-in-law: Scott and Cheryl Maxwell of Mosheim; a daughter and son-in-law: Jewell Annette and Michael Briggs of Knoxville; two grandchildren: Jessie Briggs of Nashville and Aaron Briggs of Knoxville; one sister: Mildred Blair of Georgia; two brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law: Nelson and Shirley Maxwell of Portland, Ore., Alton and Debbie Maxwell of Nashville; Pearl Huffman of Mosheim, Flossie Maxwell of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Jessie and Trula Weigel and was preceded in by two brothers: Hubert and Hershel Weigel; and two sisters: Mary Elizabeth Ogle and Margaret Cline. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow visitation at 8 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Joey Tilley will officiate. A committal service will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends will meet at 9:45 at the cemetery.
