Death Takes Mother Of Corsicana Editor

CORSICANA, Texas - Mrs. W.P. Moore, 84, member of a prominent Navarro County family, died Thursday in a Waxahachie rest home.

She was the mother of Paul Moore, managing editor of the Corsicana Daily Sun.

She was a native of Emmett and lived at Frost, near here, until 1941.

Buried at the Prairie Grove Cemetery, Emmett, Navarro Co., TX (just south of Frost).

Survivors include two other sons, Ben H. Moore of Houston and R.B. Moore of Pasadena, Texas; two daughters, Miss Mayme Moore, Corsicana High School teacher, and Mrs. W.R. Carmichael of Huntsville; a sister, Mrs. I.L. Moore of Mustang, Denton County; and a brother, L.G. Bells of Loving.

Dies Thursday; Rites Friday

Mrs. Mary D. Moore, 84, of Frost, widow of the late W. P. Moore, died shortly before noon Thursday in the Renfro Rest Home in Waxahachie after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held from the Frost Baptist church Friday at 4 p.m., conducted by the Rev. C. C. Ellis, pastor and the Rev. Robert Wooddy, pastor of the First Church, Corsicana.

McCormick Funeral Service will direct.

Surviving are three sons, Paul Moore, Managing Editor of the Corsicana Sun; Ben H. Moore, and R. B. (Buster) Moore, Pasadena; two daughters Miss Mayme Moore, Corsicana Senior High teacher; and Mrs. W. R. Carmichael, Huntsville; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a brother, L. G. Bills of Loving, Young County; a sister, Mrs. I. L. Moore, of Mustang, Denton County, and other relatives.

She was born at Emmett in Navarro County, December 18, 1877, and resided there until 1917 when she and her family moved to Hubbard.

They returned to Emmett in 1937 and four years later moved to Frost.

Mrs. Moore was a member of the Frost Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Emmett cemetery.

She is the wife of William Pitts Moore.

Daughter of Gersham Alexander Bills & Eugenia May (Ogilvie) Bills born in Emmett, Navarro Co., Texas.
