Obit in The Anthon Herald, 11 February 1948, page 1: Mrs. Agnes Florence Dawdy, 62, a lifelong resident of Grant Twp. and the Anthon community died at her home Sunday evening after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. this afternoon at Peiro Bethel Church in Grant Twp. near Oto with Rev. M.J. Metcalf officiating. Burial was in the Climbing Hill Cemetery under direction of Hudgel Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Leonard Dawdy, Eugene Dawdy, Bud Miller, Orville Dawdy, Emmett Murphy and Wilber Parker. Mrs. Dawdy was born near Anthon March 6, 1885. She married Charles Dawdy in Sioux City September 17, 1903. Mrs. Dawdy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Smithland. Survivors include the widower, Charles; four daughters, Mrs. Margie Ronfeldt of Anthon, Mrs. Nettie Reed of Oto, Mrs. Luella Mjoness of Hendrun, Minnesota, and Mrs. Opal Mjoness of Fargo, North Dakota; five sons, Chester, Harvey and James, all of Anthon; Richard of Sioux City; and Raymond of Fargo; 29 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mary Murphy of Kingsley, and two brothers, Thomas Courtney of O'Hattan, Alberta, Canada; and James Courtney of Tees, Alberta, Canada. Three children died in infancy.
