By 1870, Martha, who was 22 years of age, was living with Thomas Price Goodwin and Ellen Gorsuch Goodwin as a servant working in the house. By 1900, both Thomas and Ellen had passed away and Martha, then 52 years old, was living with Thomas and Ellen's eldest son, Charles E. Goodwin and his wife Annie F.B. Goodwin as a boarder. When she died, Martha was buried alongside Thomas and Ellen.
