P.A. "Pete" Hooker, 86 died Monday at Hendrick Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 31, 1889 in Nashville, AR. He grew up there and married Ola Reese in 1913. They moved to Abilene from AR in 1925 and he opened a Texaco Station at N. 1st and Orange and continued to operate this station until the late 1930's. He then went to work for the Hendrick Home for Children in 1942 and continued to work there until 1955. For some time after that he served as an assistant to Eual Porter, choir director at Baylor University. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a member of a quartet that sang at many church functions including the Victory Men's Bible Class of which he was a member. He was preceded in death by his wife. Survivors include his daughter Mary Sue of the home.
