Robert Clinton Mitchum, Jr. (Bobby) was a son of Robert Clinton "Jack" Mitchum, Sr. & Margaret "Baine" Rudisill Mitchum of Lincolnton, NC. He was married on 11/17/1962 to the former Lois Ann Veler of Ohio. Bobby and Lois were the parents of two children: Dr. Robert Andrew "Andy" Mitchum (wife Deborah), Greensboro, NC; and Sarah Mitchum Hollingsworth (husb., Dwight), Matthews, NC. In addition to his children, Bobby was also survived by his wife of 47 years, Lois Veler Mitchum, and 4 grandchildren: Emily and Michael Mitchum; and Victoria and Elizabeth Hollingsworth. Bobby was a retired Lutheran pastor, social worker and college professor. He was a graduate of Lincolnton High School, Lenoir-Rhyne College and Hamma Divinity School in Ohio. He was the recipient of many honorary awards for his tireless service both during and after his retirement.
