Joseph, son of Mr. J.J. Sherman, passed away peacefully at the Kossuth County hospital at Algona Sunday afternoon at 3:15 o'clock, at the age of twenty years, one month and twenty days.
Joseph had been a patient sufferer of pernicious anemia for the past two months. He was taken to the hospital at Algona last Tuesday evening.
Funeral services were conducted at St. John's Catholic Church Wednesday morning at ten o'clock and burial was made in St. John's Cemetery.
Joseph Sherman, Jr., was born March 6, 1917, at Bancroft, Iowa. He attended St. John's Parochial High School at Bancroft until his senior year. He then attended St. John's Preparatory School at Collegeville, Minnesota, from where he graduated. Since then he had been attending the CCCC at Des Moines up to the time he became seriously ill. He was well known and well respected by all who knew him. He was always cheerful and always had a kind word for everyone.
He leaves to mourn his passing his father and his sister Marjorie, his mother having preceded him in death about a year and a half ago, besides a host of friends for miles around.
Pallbearers were: Ralph Menke, Charley Quinn, Morris Greenfield, Gerald Hutchinson, Leo Engesser and Kenneth McGuire.
Honorary pallbearers were: Bobby and Billy Fuchs, LaVerne Austin, Billy Kennedy, Johnny Murray and Billy Deitering.
Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the funeral were: Mr. A.J. Rohe of Omaha, Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sherman of Algona and Marie Richter of Wesley.
