Elizabeth Thornton Caughron, age 83, formerly of Kenly, N.C., died Friday, June 11, 2010, at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro.
Mrs. Caughron was born May 11, 1927, the daughter of Ralph F. and Winifred Briggs Thornton. She was a native of Guilford County and a member of Nahunta Friends Meeting. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Jack L. Caughron and brother, Steven Thornton.
Her children include her daughters, Vivian Byrd and Beth Peele; her sons, Ken, Joe and Mark Caughron. Their birth order was Kenneth, Joseph, Elizabeth "Beth", Vivian and Mark. She also had 10 grandchildren and 2 living sisters, Janie Carroll and Shirley Garis, at the time of her death.
The graveside service were held Sunday, June 13, 2010, at 3 p.m. at Deep River Friends Meeting, 5300 W. Wendover Ave., High Point, N.C., with her son Mark Caughron officiating.
