PRESQUE ISLE April 14— James W. Akeley, 75, died at his home in Chapman, Monday after a brief illness.
Surviving are his wife, Blanch Grendell Akeley; seven daughters, Mrs. Bruce Estabrook of Dexter, Mrs. Guy Pettengill of Washburn, Mrs. Miles Grendell of Chapman, Mrs. Clayton Baird and Mrs. Floyd Brayley of Mapleton, Mrs. Harry McCullough and Mrs. Charles Mills of Portland; one son, Lloyd Akeley; 27 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren, one brother Archie Akeley of East Douglas, Mass.; and one half-brother Joseph Swanback of Massachusetts.
Mr. Akeley was a Mason and also a member of Eureka Grange of Mapleton.
A Masonic funeral was held at the Baptist church In Mapleton, Wednesday afternoon at 1:30. The Rev. Mr. Westrup pastor of the Baptist church, Officiated.
