Greenberry B. McCalla was the son of Matthew McCalla and Rosand. He married Nancy Quinn on 31 January 1847 in Murray County, Georgia. They had eleven children; Mary Clarinda McCalla-Lowe (1847-1898), Thomas Glover McCalla (1848-1855), George Columbus McCalla (1950-1855), Nancy Jane McCalla-Stancel (1851-1931), Julia Ann McCalla (1853-1853), Julia Ann McCalla-Lowe (1855- ), Thomas Glover McCalla (1857-1912) Lola Montez McCalla-Copeland (1860-1936), Kate F. McCalla-Ware (1862-1925), Albert Sidney McCalla (1864-1052), and Sallie McCalla-Dickert (1867-1941).
