He emigrated from Sweden 1882; he crossed the ocean five times. He first lived for a time in the area of Montreal, Wisconsin. His daughter Mina had emigrated in 1890, and this is where she married and settled. 1892 Betty, son Anton, and the smaller children came to America. Daughters Emma and Maria emigrated in 1893.
John, Betty and the children lived for one year in Ely, St. Louis Co., Minnesota, before moving to Aitkin Co., Minnesota.
He worked in the mines of Wisconsin and Minnesota, in addition to farming.
