Isaac volunteered for army service during the Civil War in Company I, 103rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, August 11, 1862, at Guilford Twp., Medina County Ohio, for a term of 3 years. Occupation: Brewer. He was mustered out with Company I, June 12, 1865, at Raleigh, North Carolina at the end of the war. After the war he was a shoemaker and moved to Summit County, Ohio.

His wife, Matilda, is buried next to him.

Note: Holmes Brook Cemetery is know known as First Mennonite Cemetery.
