The couple made their home in Folker Twp., Clark County, Missouri near the border with Scotland County, where Byron continued to live following her death in August, 1903. Though Byron's death certificate does not indicate it, family members reported at the time that in January, 1916 he was tied to a chair in his kitchen during a home robbery and froze to death before being discovered.
